Nature Photography Meetup

Saturday 19 April
Monroe Blvd, Ogden - 10am - 2 Hours
Ogden Photography Group
Jeff Rivera
Join this session for tips on how to use your camera settings to creatively capture nature in a visually interesting way. We will be looking at composition, focus, and colour.

Many professional offices and places of business have large prints gracing their wall space of things such as fields of flowers, a butterfly perched on a leaf, and a single dew drop on a rose petal. These beautiful images are all around us in nature. It just takes that special "eye" to not only see it but to capture it in a way that will turn that simple little piece of nature into a beautiful piece of art. We will learn how to use different angles, light and shadows, and settings to make subjects pop.

Dan Michaels provided all the expertise and advice I was hoping to obtain from this event. Great tips for dealing with the nuances of a zoo setting with subjects that were moving and "inconsiderate" of photographers :)

Absolutely loved the event. Not only did I leave with more knowledge about my camera and how to shoot but also to think around the composition and not always just shoot the obvious. Also, thar sometimes you need to wait out the shot you're looking for.

    PHOTOGRAPHERS
    Daniel Michaels
Photography is not just a job to me, it is a passion, a way of life, some may even say, it is an obsession. Very rarely will you see me without a camera over my shoulder. My passion for the art of photography started way back in high school. Since that time I have devoted my life to creating images and teaching. I do not limit myself to the studio, I also shoot street photography and an occasional wedding.

After high school I moved to Atlanta GA to study photography at the Portfolio Center and later at the Art Institute of Atlanta. During this time I started to assist several photographers in the area. After my education I moved back to Syracuse and became a studio manager, and taught photography on the Syracuse University campus.

This was on my list of NY waterfalls to photograph. This was shot on July 3, 2024 and the weather finally cooperated and gave some nice clouds around 9a. It's about a 30 custom crop. Worth the steep hike to the bottom.

This is Craig, a Big Tusker?a term used to describe elephants with exceptionally long tusks. Craig is believed to be the oldest living Big Tusker in Kenya, boasting the longest tusks in the country. At approximately 52 years old, he is a true giant of Amboseli National Park.I was with a group of photographers exploring Amboseli National Park in Kenya when our driver and guide informed us that Craig and his fellow Tusker, Mike, had ventured outside the park and were now in a nearby game prese

I wanted to shoot the lunar eclipse but at the same time incorporate some quintessential Fort Worth icons into the image for context. I knew I would need to use a very long telephoto to get a large moon but in doing so knew that the rest of the image would need to be some distance from me due to the tunnel vision of the telephoto. I used Photopills and The Photographer?s Ephemeris to plan the shot which was taken with Fuji X system mirrorless equipment.

Using light and shade to capture the beauty in the harshness of urban industrial architecture. Rekindling a love of black and white photography, I took this photograph whilst on a Brighton Photography Group 'Urban Architecture in Black & White Photography' study event led by Tobias Slater-Hunt. Having spent a winter of dark clouds, rain and dull skies, it was an opportunity to make the most of the year's new beautiful March sunshine.
