Street Photography Meetup

Sunday 04 June
Columbus Circle - 9:30am - 2 Hours
Street art is a unique and colorful art form and can be found in all kinds of nooks and crannies in cities all over the world. Capturing art in the streets in photographs can be tricky because these urban art pieces are in public spaces, that are busy and usually filled with a decent amount of traffic. Sometimes you include the people and sometimes, you don't.

The City at Night

Saturday 10 June
Franklin Square Park, Syracuse NY - 8pm - 2 Hours
Many people don't think about nighttime being a good time to do photography since there's a lack of light. However, armed with knowledge about your camera's settings and the properties of light, nighttime photography can be a lot of fun. In this meetup, you'll learn about the best camera settings for nighttime photography. We'll also explore the kinds of light available to us and how to use that light to make some awesome photos. As always, there are exercises that will help you put your new knowledge to work.

I like how Daniel Micheals give us challeges with our camera. Even though its scary but it was fun! He look over our work. And he tells us what he likes and what could be better. He always ask us if we have any questions. The only thing I wish to make it better since the event was huge event is where we can spot him better whenever we want to look for him.

I have known Dan from his years of work at. Ra-Lin's. He has always been very helpful. At this event, Dan was always asking if I had any questions and was very willing to help us. Thanks, Dan for finally getting me to come to photograph the Watchfire, I loved it.

I thought that Al aspects of this training were excellent. It incorporated the key elements that makes a training excellent: 1) A trainer who can put trainees at ease. 2) A trainer who is knowledgeable & passionate about the subject. 3) The subject matter is presented in a fun and understandable way. 4) The opportunity to learn and then apply the subject matter. 5) The opportunity to practice what was learned. 6) Have all questions answered in a nonjudgmental fashion.

This was the best class I have had so far with your organization. The instructor was very knowledgeable and offered individual hands on instruction. He took the time to explain camera usage for those that were new to photography and demonstrated different camera setting scenarios. I would definitely take another class with him.

This event was great! It exceeded my expectations and I can't wait to participate in another meetup. Daniel's teaching style was right up my alley. Even though I am a novice when it comes to working with my camera I had a lot of fun. Would 100% recommend taking a class with Daniel!

Photography is not just a job to me, it is a passion, a way of life, some may even say, it is an obsession. Very rarely will you see me without a camera over my shoulder. My passion for the art of photography started way back in high school. Since that time I have devoted my life to creating images and teaching. I do not limit myself to the studio, I also shoot street photography and an occasional wedding.

After high school I moved to Atlanta GA to study photography at the Portfolio Center and later at the Art Institute of Atlanta. During this time I started to assist several photographers in the area. After my education I moved back to Syracuse and became a studio manager, and taught photography on the Syracuse University campus.
