Daniel was an excellent photographer who knew exactly where to find the best opportunities for candid shots. Although this was not intended as a teaching trip, Daniel proved to be an excellent teacher -- he monitored each one of us (without intruding) to notice who was struggling and always offering to help (never insisting). He welcomed our questions and answered them honestly and easily with a touch of humor thrown in for good measure. I hope he offers another field trip opportunity real soon!

Photography is not just a job to me, it is a passion, a way of life, some may even say, it is an obsession. Very rarely will you see me without a camera over my shoulder. My passion for the art of photography started way back in high school. Since that time I have devoted my life to creating images and teaching. I do not limit myself to the studio, I also shoot street photography and an occasional wedding.

After high school I moved to Atlanta GA to study photography at the Portfolio Center and later at the Art Institute of Atlanta. During this time I started to assist several photographers in the area. After my education I moved back to Syracuse and became a studio manager, and taught photography on the Syracuse University campus.

This picture was take on a Syracuse photography group meet .I saw the waves crashing over the wall and thought ,that?s the shot. I used a fairly high ISO. So that I could have a high speed to catch the waves and a Fairly small aperture to keep everything in focus.( ISO400 f6.3 1/400)I had the camera set to continuous mode. When I see the wave just breaking I hit the shutter. I did this several times until I?m got this shot.Im also tries it with a slower shutter speed, to Blair the wave b

My flash had been sitting on my shelf for about a year. I had been watching macro photography with flash quite a bit on social media and finally put two and two together, realizing I needed to actually go put it to the test. After a bit of tweaking, I was able to get some pretty remarkable snaps.

Originally showed up at Gouldsboro State Park at sunrise to get a backlit, misty shot of the island but when I got there, NO mist, and enough boats on the lake to walk across!Quickly decided to take a backroad to another favorite spot nearby, and slammed on the brakes as I was driving over a small bridge when I looked to the right and saw THIS scene. Finding it was sheer luck, but as always, just getting out there at first light is half the battle. Made this one standing right on the bridge.
